What if we retrace the story of Pac-Man?
It was in 1980 that the little yellow man appeared on our screens. Of course we are not talking about current computer screens or smartphone screens. At the time, you could play PacMan only on arcade terminals. We owe its release to the designer Toru Iwatani and the Japanese company Namco.
For those who have lived in a cave for the last 20 years, know that the goal of the game is to move Pac-Man through a labyrinth by making him eat Pac-gums. And in order to make the game a little more difficult, we must avoid the many ghosts that are there. But at the beginning of the history of Pac-Man, the technique of the video game was in its beginnings. The developers therefore had only one and only possibility: always to order the same course to the ghosts. It was then very simple to break records by remembering the path of the ghosts!
Of course over the years, this small problem was repaired and at the moment the ghosts have a combination of indefinite paths.
But how to explain such a notoriety? Thanks to one and only thing: innovation. Indeed, in the 1980s, the only existing games were shooting games. These games were therefore disapproved by the parents. Pac-Man on the market revolutionized the vision of video games. Young and old alike began to try to pass as many levels as possible! And in a very short time the arcade game brought back over $ 100 million to the publisher.
The game had a commercial potential more than impressive, it was quickly redeemed by the company Midway. Since that day, our friend Pac-Man, is constantly evolving and we can find it today on our smartphones, our computers or our consoles video games.
Today, Pac-Man is still at the forefront. Indeed, our favorite yellow ball appears on a whole collection of Freegun boxers!
Good game everyone !
